Honeydew Melon
The sweetest of the melons, honeydew melon is round to slightly oval in shape with a creamy yellow rind and fragrant smell when ripe. The flesh is a green-white colour and has a delicate flavour. Their thick flesh together with an inner seed-filled middle makes melons very similar in structure to winter squash and indeed part of the same gourd family. The honeydew has a high water content, is high in vitamin C and low in energy making it a popular snack and dessert choice around the world.
Seasonal Availability
Honeydew melons are available all year round, but in limited quantities during winter.
Serving Size
1 wedge or ½ a cup of chopped honeydew melon provides 1 serving of fruit.
